Jim Thompson

Managing Consultant

I am a technical project manager, experienced in transition to operations, systems integration and service delivery.

I have spent the majority of my career at the sharp end of systems integration projects. I get great satisfaction from getting deliveries across the line, planning and coordinating integration with live systems, user and data migration to provide customers with new and enhanced capabilities. In this capacity I have run projects using both agile and rational unified process methodologies, acted as service architect, test manager and functional analyst.

Most recently, I was the service delivery manager for four ITIL services in a public sector organisation. In this role I planned disaster recovery testing of a large-scale data warehousing application and migrated first line service operations to a dedicated off-site service desk team to realise cost savings, in addition to business as usual service operations.

In my spare time, I’m a keen runner and try to fit in the occasional game of squash, football or skiing trip when I can.

Previous experience

Before I joined DMW, I worked for BAE Systems Applied Intelligence, spending 5 years working in the public sector. I graduated with a Master’s degree in Materials Science from Oxford University in 2010.
