Background

I joined DMW as a Data Specialist with over 20 years’ data architecture and data management experience. It is an area that I really enjoy, not least as it provides the opportunity to deliver business outcomes quickly and allows for both ‘hands-on’ and architectural work.

I graduated from university with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, and later went on to study for a Master of Science in Information Systems.

Outside of work, I am a keen golfer and a season ticket holder at Bradford City. I also enjoy walking in the Dales with my friends, family and Pippa the family dog.

Skillset

I have a strong record of technical leadership and delivery across multiple sectors, using leading integration, data management and data analytics technologies.

I have been involved in helping organisations to evolve their data architecture to incorporate emerging data technologies, allowing them to quickly understand the ‘big picture’ and setting out a vision for transformation and the support teams to deliver it.

I have a wide range of data-centric project experience across various data strategy, data architecture, data governance, data integration, data mesh, analytics, data lake/warehousing and data quality improvement projects.

My specialist skills in data management are coupled with experience of using industry recognised methods and frameworks such as DAMA DMBOK, TOGAF, SAFe, Agile, Kanban, DataOps and DataGovOps.

Career Highlights

I recently supported a national healthcare organisation, providing data architecture and data strategy thought leadership & technical guidance to support the delivery of several programmes:

  • Accelerating Detection of Disease’s (ADD) - Data Architecture Vision: Captured ADD’s motivational model and identified the data capabilities needed to meet them. Identified the initial set of data principles to guide the data architecture development and delivery process. Established the high-level vision for the future state architecture and identified areas of recommendations.
  • Covid-19 Testing, Operational MI Programme - Data Architecture Assessment: Assessed the current and strategic data architecture for the Covid-19 Testing Operational MI Programme. Evaluated the architectures against the business requirements, the feasibility of the solution, its cost effectiveness and sustainability. Identified pragmatic steps to address gaps, and provided on-going technical oversight of strategic MI delivery.
