Some specific highlights include:
‘Trading Strength’ Infrastructure
DMW was instrumental in defining and delivering a strategy involving significant investment in IT infrastructure to support the formation of BP’s trading division. The drivers for the investment were the requirement to accommodate significant business growth coupled with a need for transformed operational service reliability and integrity. DMW ran a programme that met these needs by successfully delivering new, world class data centres and data centre services, professional IT operational processes, high speed global networks, global service monitoring, robust security and new disaster recovery capabilities. Many of the innovative features of the new architecture were subsequently deployed more widely within BP’s global IT infrastructure.
We were part of a major development programme that was developing a series of applications to support trading. We established the global support organisation and ensured that the applications were fully tested before being transferred to production. As part of this work, we developed a Service Transition Process to ensure the system could be adequately supported in the live environment and would meet service levels demanded by the business.
Business Service Management
We pioneered an innovative approach to managing the performance and availability of BP’s complex and highly distributed IT estate that involved designing and implementing a suite of tools that presented the state of the IT service on a ‘single pane of glass’. The result was improved operational service and proactive management of IT services globally.
We have performed a number of project management roles relating to the development and implementation of new systems including bespoke oil trading systems and back office trading systems.
